Tourist Information

Israel is centrally located where Europe, Asia and Africa meet.  Direct flights are available from most major European cities and numerous connecting flights are available from all major world hubs.

Visa & Passport Requirements
All visitors to Israel must hold a passport that is valid for at least six months from the date they enter the country. Individuals from countries, who require an entry visa to Israel, should contact the Israel Embassy/ Consulate in their country in order to obtain their tourist visa. Note: Passport and visa requirements may change at short notice. Travelers are advised to check their entry requirements with the Israeli Embassy/ Consulate or with their travel agent. 

Travel to Neighboring Countries
You can travel between Israel, Jordan and Egypt. Please check with the relevant embassies if you need a visa to enter these countries.
Important note for tourists continuing from Israel on to Arab countries (Except Egypt and Jordan): It is recommended that you request that an Israeli stamp does not appear on your passport. You must notify the clerk at the passport control of your request before your documents are stamped.

The unit of currency in Israel is the New Israeli Shekel (NIS) commonly known as the Shekel. Approximate currency rates as of January 2013 are as follows: US $ 1 = NIS 3.8
Euro € 1 = NIS 4.9.
Most international credit cards are accepted.

Israel’s northern and coastal regions are classified as Mediterranean climate characterized by hot and dry summers and cool rainy winters; whereas the southern and eastern areas of Israel are characterized by an arid climate.

Jerusalem: 18-28 C
Haifa: 22-29 C
Dead Sea: 20-37 C
Eilat: 24-39 C

Israel standard time zone is GMT +2.

The electric current in Israel is 220 volts AC, single phase, 50 Hertz.
The electric outlets used are type H and Type C. Most modern type H outlets can also accept type C European two-pronged plugs.

Value Added Tax Reimbursement
According to the Value Added Tax (VAT) Law, a foreign tourist is able to benefit from a zero rate of VAT on a vast array of services obtained during a stay in Israel.
