Post-Tour 2 – Jerusalem, Dead Sea & Massada
June 7-8, 2013

Friday, June 7, 2013 – Jerusalem New City
Depart Tel Aviv and drive to Jerusalem.Stop for a panoramic view on the capital of three religions from the Mount Scopus as did the Roman legionnaires and the Crusaders at their times. Our tour will help you to appreciate the views of Temple Mount, Mount Zion and the Citadel, also known as the Tower of David. Continue for a visit of the Israel Museum, one of the leading art and archaeology museums in the world, of which uncontested stars are the Dead Sea Scrolls that date from the 2nd century BCE to the 1st century CE and include books of the Hebrew Bible as well as other non-canonical texts. One of the most recent and exciting additions to the Museum is the Second Temple Era model of Jerusalem, which reconstructs the topography and architectural character of the city as it was prior to 66 CE.
Stop for lunch at the "Lavan" Restaurant - Jerusalem Cinematheque.
The second part of the tour focuses on the charming archaeological sites at, Jaffa Street. The main site is the Safra Square - City Hall. The old Jerusalem Municipality building was one of the four public buildings constructed in Jerusalem by the British administration. Since its erection in 1930 the city has grown tenfold and the municipality offices, which multiplied and expanded accordingly, were scattered in nearby buildings and elsewhere throughout the city. These include the houses on the other side of Jaffa road that were built by the Americans at the end of the last century and were leased to the Municipality.
Drive to the hotel in Jerusalem
Overnight at the Dan Jerusalem Hotel or similar 4-5 Israeli star hotel

Saturday, June 8, 2013 – Jerusalem Old City & Massada, Dead Sea
Departure the hotel for a tour of Jerusalem's Old City. Enter the Old City through Jaffa Gate and walk through its alleys to the Jewish Quarter, where we will visit the remains of the Roman-Byzantine Cardo - the main market street of the city at that time. Continue to the heart of the old city for an amazing view over the Temple Mount with its Mosque and the Wailing Wall, the most sacred place of worship for Jews and prominent remnant of the Temple house.
After lunch drive to the Dead Sea Hotel.
Departure from the Dead Sea hotel to Massada, a rugged natural fortress of majestic beauty and history - where you will ascend by cable car to the top of the mountain. Massada became a famous landmark after the first Jewish-Roman war when a siege of the fortress by troops of the Roman Empire led to a mass suicide of the site's Jewish Sicarii fugitives when defeat became imminent.
Drive back to Tel-Aviv/Ben-Gurion Airport.
